Obituary of Harry Sheldon Abrams
Harry Sheldon Abrams, 85, of Cliffwood died Monday, July 7, 2008 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. He was born in Kearny.
Mr. Abrams was a gunner’s mate in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was a maintenance man for American Can Company, Cliffwood before his retirement. After his retirement he was a school crossing guard in Cliffwood for over 17 years.
He was a longtime member and head usher of the Matawan United Methodist Church and a member of F. & A.M. Lodge No. 192, both of Matawan.
He was predeceased by his wife Evelyn Ruth Abrams who died in 2002, a son, Harry Sheldon Abrams, Jr. who died in 1973, five brothers, George, Ralph, Herbert and Kenneth Abrams and William Young, and two sisters, Lillian Platner and Muriel Nicholas
Surviving are three daughters, Mary Lynn Kazulen, Freehold, Barbara Ann Zara, Jackson Township, and Karen Kathryn Lubeck, Arizona; a sister, Luella Queen; five grandchildren, Lynn Ann Broderick, Cari Ann DePalma, Christine Sonderman, Traci Graves, and Darlene Gibisico; and eight great grandchildren, Christopher, Matthew, Dustin, Rebecca, Alexis, P.J., Dylan, and Drew.
Visiting will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Wednesday, July 9, 2008 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in care of his family would be appreciated.
