Obituary of Michael Joseph Hannon
Michael Joseph Hannon, 66, of Manalapan Township died Monday, August 4, 2008 at home. Mr. Hannon was born in the Bronx and had resided there and in West Milford before moving to Manalapan Township four years ago.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was a graduate of Hunter College, New York City and earned his graduate degree from Rutgers University.
Mr. Hannon was a curator and librarian at the Bobst Library of New York University, New York City where he spent his entire professional career.
His wife, Christina Ann Hannon, died in 2005.
Surviving are a son, Christian M. Hannon; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kathleen M. and Paul Malmstrom and Jennifer C. and Craig Shapiro; two brothers, John and Joseph Hannon; and three grandchildren, Maxwell and Rachel Shapiro and Carolyn Malmstrom.
Visiting hours will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Church, Freehold on Thursday at 9:30 a.m. followed by interment at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown.
