Obituary of Charles C. Pudder
Charles C. “John” Pudder, 76, of Howell Township died Thursday, September 25, 2008 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. He was born in Valley Bend, West Virginia and had resided in Monroe Township before moving to Howell Township in 1979.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and was awarded the Korean Service Medal with three bronze service stars, Purple Heart Award with oak leaf cluster and Combat Infantry Badge.
He was an auto worker for the Ford Motor Company before his retirement and a member of United Auto Workers, Local No. 980, both of Edison Township.
Mr. Pudder was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 4703, Jackson Township. He was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan and enjoyed golfing, horseshoes, fishing, and visiting with his grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife, Sylvia Margaret Pudder in 2005; and two sons, Charles Augustus and John Keith Pudder.
Surviving are two sons, Allen Wade Pudder and his wife Tracy, Suffolk, Virginia and Paul G. Pudder, Howell Township; two daughters, Barbara E. Morrison and her husband Randy, McVeytown, Pennsylvania and Rena Jane Dawes and her husband Frederick, Manalapan Township; a brother Otto Pudder and his wife Ina, Englishtown; two sisters, Roxie Louk, Mill Creek, West Virginia and Verida Crotchfelt and her husband Robert, Howell Township; seven grandchildren, Randy Lee and Justin Cody Morrison, Anna Rose and Samuel Allen Pudder, and Tyler Warren, Megan Leigh, and Katelyn Sylvia Dawes; and a great granddaughter, Olivia Nicole Morrison.
The viewing will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Friday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. followed by interment at the Ardena Baptist Church Cemetery, Ardena.
