Obituary of Brother Michael Dougherty
Brother Michael Dougherty, F.S.C., 82, of De La Salle Hall, Lincroft died Wednesday, October 1, 2008 at De La Salle Hall. Brother Michael was born in Newburgh, N.Y. and received the Holy Habit of the Christian Brothers on September 7, 1942.
He was a graduate of Catholic University, Washington, D.C., and received a Master of Art Degree in mathematics from Manhattan College in 1956 and a Master of Science Degree from Union College, Schenectady, N.Y. in 1964.
He was a former president of the Catholic High School Freshman Basketball League.
Brother Michael’s assignments included Christian Brothers Academy, Albany, N.Y., La Salle Institute, New York City, Manhattan Prep, New York City where he served as athletic director, St. Joseph’s Novitiate Institute, Barrytown, N.Y., Christian Brothers Academy, Syracuse, N.Y. where he served as Vice Principal, and Christian Brothers Academy, Lincroft.
Visiting will be held at De La Salle Hall, Lincroft on Sunday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at De La Salle Hall on Monday at 10:00 a.m. followed by interment at the Christian Brothers section of St. Gabriel’s Cemetery, Marlboro. Memorial donations to De La Salle Nursing Development, 810 Newman Springs Road, Lincroft, NJ 07738 would be appreciated. Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold is in charge of arrangements.
