Obituary of Santiago Mercado Pagan

Santiago “Chago” Mercado Pagan, 56, of Freehold, died Sunday, Oct. 26, at Centrastate Medical Center, Freehold Township. Mr. Pagan was born in Puerto Rico and moved to Freehold 39 years ago. He worked for Freehold Borough in the Water and Sewer Department. He was predeceased by his parents Lorenzo and Josefina Pagan, three brothers, Jose, Pedro and Carmelo. Surviving are his son, Michael of Freehold; one step-son, Justin of Jackson; four daughters, Amanda and Alicia of California; Rosyln and Emily of Kentucky; four brothers, Andreas of California; Domingo of Pennsylvania, Juan, of Puerto Rico, Jamie of Ohio; and three sisters, Lucy, Fannie and Carmen all of Puerto Rico; two grandchildren. The viewing will be from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold. A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at St. Rose of Lima R.C. Church, Freehold on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. followed by interment at Old Tennent Cemetery, Tennent.
