Obituary of Eileen Marie Stroby
Eileen Marie (Smith) Stroby, 91, of Sayreville, New Jersey died unexpectedly on November 7, 2015. She was a longtime resident of Marlboro and Englishtown, New Jersey. She was the wife of Charles Robert Stroby, who died September 9, 1975.
Eileen was born on August 1, 1924 in Bayonne, New Jersey a daughter of the late Edward and Hannah (McCarthy) Smith.
Eileen graduated from Holy Family High School in Bayonne, New Jersey in 1942 and then furthered her education by attending Ethael Traphagen School of Fashion in New York.
She married the love of her life, Charles Robert Stroby, on April 19, 1947.
Eileen was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt. She enjoyed being with her family, playing bingo, cards and of course her trips to the casino. She touched many lives and will always be remembered for her compassion and devotion to her family.
Eileen is survived by her son, Robert C. Stroby and his wife Joanne Stroby of Middlebury, CT; her grandchildren, Michael Lamb and his wife Linnea of Torrington, CT, Eugene Gentile and his wife Amy of Richfield, OH, Frank Gentile of NJ, James Gentile and companion Rebecca Yates of Bethany, CT, Kelly Schivera and her husband Wesley Schivera of Waterbury, CT, Joseph Gentile of Seymour, CT, Lauren Fraser and her husband Kenneth of Middlebury, CT and Brian Stroby of Middlebury, CT; great grandchildren include Joseph Gentile of Bethany, CT, Paige and Tyler Gentile of Richfield, OH and Shea Schivera of Waterbury, CT; nephew Patrick Smith and his wife Denise and their children Katie, Amy and Sandy of Frankfort, IN, and several nieces and nephews other relatives and longtime family friend Rhonda Matusow.
Eileen was predeceased by her sisters Mary Mae Smith and Alice Marie Smith, brothers Edward Charles Smith and James Edward Smith, daughter Eileen Marie Gentile, son-in law Gene Gentile and nephew Edward Smith.
The viewing will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Friday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday at a time to be determined followed by interment at Old Tennent Cemetery, Tennent.
