Obituary of Charles Boswell

Charles “Sammy” Boswell, 88, of Manalapan Township died Sunday, November 23, 2008 at Pine Brook Care Center, Manalapan Township. Born in Madison, Georgia, he was the son of the late Fred and Elizabeth Boswell. Mr. Boswell was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II. He retired in 1986 from the construction trade and was a member of the Construction Laborers Union, South Brunswick local. He was also employed by Phelps Dodge, South Brunswick, and before closing, work many years for Sayre and Fisher Brick Company, Sayreville, NJ. He was an avid automobile mechanic. Many recognized him as the “neighborhood mechanic”. He predeceased by his wife, Mattie Mae Boswell, who died in 1998. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Grady Boswell; Charlotte, N.C. Surviving are a son, Charles Boswell, Jr., Freehold; two daughters, Martha Harris, Toms River, Mary Robinson, Hamilton, a sister , Geneva Fair, Freehold; nine grandchildren, Pamela Harris, Toms River, Brian Harris, Brick, David Harris, Toms River, Fayette Harris, Asbury Park, Marsha Harris, Neptune,., Charolyn Boswell, Freehold, , Robert Robinson, Trenton, , Michael Robinson, Hamilton, , and Cassandra Cragg, Philadelphia, Pa., He also survived by many great-grandchildren and cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. A viewing and service will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Friday, November 28, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A memorial talk will be given at 7:30 p.m. The interment will be held in Springfield Cemetery, Madison, Georgia.
