Obituary of Patricia Donnelly

Patricia (Pat) Donnelly, Freehold, died on November 8, 2015 at The Manor in Freehold, where she resided for five years. Pat was born in Jersey City and lived in Jeffersonville, Indiana, for most of her childhood. She returned to Jersey City for high school and lived the rest of her life in Hoboken, Garfield, Sayreville and Freehold. She was employed as a manager at Ohrbach’s for a number of years, but her most important role was being a wife, mother and grandmother. Pat loved spending time with her grandchildren, singing and listening to music, bowling and dancing. She had an incredible sense of humor and loved to have fun. She spent many hours volunteering at the school and Church of the Most Holy Name in Garfield, where she served as President of the Mother’s Club. She coached softball with her late husband, Jack, in Garfield and helped him in coaching CYO basketball. The family wishes to thank all of the dedicated people at The Manor, who treated Pat like family and made her days there as pleasant and comfortable as possible. Special thanks also go to the dedicated people from Seasons Hospice, who made Pat’s last few days more comfortable. Pat will be deeply missed by her daughters and their husbands, Karen and Tom Cassidy of Freehold, and Barbara and Barry Leech of Fallston, MD; grandchildren, Colleen Cassidy and Brian and Tim Leech; sister-in-law Agnes Tumulty; niece Debbie Lintvedt, and nephew Jimmy Tumulty. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 38 years, Jack, with whom she is now reunited after a 27 year physical separation. Her parents, Jane and Charles Tumulty, and her “baby” brothers, Don and Jimmy Tumulty, also preceded Pat in death. A viewing will be held on Saturday, November 14, from 8:00 to 9:30 am at Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center St., Freehold, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church, 16 McLean St., Freehold. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Pat’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, www.alzfdn.org .
