Obituary of Christine Van Handel

Christine Van Handel, 91, of Millstone Township died Tuesday, January 20, 2009 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Mrs. Van Handel was born in Totowa. Mrs. Van Handel and her family owned and operated Van Handel’s Farm and Market on Route 33 in Millstone Township. She was a communicant of St. Anthony of Padua R.C. Church, Hightstown. Her husband, Edwin C. Van Handel, died in 1971. Surviving are a son, Edwin G. Van Handel, Millstone Township; a daughter, Kathleen Yurkovic, Pennsylvania; a sister, Marie LaRegina; four grandchildren, Greg Yurkovic and his wife Hope, Pamela Vioreanu and her husband Dave, and Olivia and Rose Van Handel; three great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at St. Anthony of Padua Church, Hightstown on Friday at 10:30 a.m. followed by private interment at Laurel Grove Cemetery, Totowa.
