Obituary of Othello Hatcher

Othello (Honey) Hatcher, 82, of Tinton Falls, died Thursday, January 29, 2009 at Chapin Hill at Red Bank. Born in Rincon, Georgia, on January 25, 1927, he was raised in Florida. Mr. Hatcher was employed as an electronics technician for Sears, Middletown, for 20 years. He was a communicant of St. Joan of Arc parish, Fort Monmouth. He served in the U.S. Army from 1946 until his retirement in 1970, serving in both the Korean and Vietnam wars. Son of the late Henry and Hattie Mae Hatcher, he was also predeceased by a brother, Bernard Hatcher, and four sisters, Hazel McKinney, Lilly Mae Littles, Dorothy Rolle, and Rosa Williams. Surviving are his wife, Josefine Esterer (Oma) Hatcher; two sons, Jermaine Hatcher, Keansburg, and Steven Hatcher, North Carolina; a daughter, Gwendalyn Rogers, Tinton Falls; two grandchildren, David E. Williams and Kaire N. Hatcher, both of Tinton Falls; a brother, Tommy Hatcher, Florida; three sisters, Annie Johnson, New York, Minnie Rolle, Florida, and Ruth Stinson, New York; and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold, on Thursday, February 5, 2009 from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 P.M. Interment will follow at the Brig. Gen. Wm. C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Arneytown.
