Obituary of Raymond F. Ryan
Raymond F. Ryan, Jr., 76, of Freehold passed away on February 18, 2009 at Saint Lucie Medical Center, Port Saint Lucie, Florida.
Born in New York City, Raymond had been a resident of Freehold since 1962; he also was a seasonal resident of Port St. Lucie, Florida since 2002.
He graduated from Fordham Prep in the Bronx. During his high school years he met Patricia Anderson, he would later marry Pat, the love of his life. After the Prep, Raymond attended Fordham University in New York City, where he was a member of Army ROTC.
Upon graduation he became a commissioned officer and served as a Lieutenant during the Korean War. After his service to our country, Raymond pursued a career as an insurance representative and later became Vice President of Bankers National Life Insurance Company, Parsippany. He also co-founded and was a principal of Financial Trends Corporation, Morris Plains, a consultancy firm to the financial service industry.
Raymond was very active in the Knights of Columbus, Freehold Council No. 1672, where he was Past Grand Knight and served as a Trustee to the Columbian Club of Freehold. He was a member of Msgr. Kivelitz General Assembly, 4th Degree Knights of Columbus. He belonged to various organizations within Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Freehold and Saint Bernadette’s Catholic Church in Port Saint Lucie, Florida.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Patricia Ryan, and children Raymond F. Ryan, III, Austin, Texas, Maryann King and her husband Charles, Melbourne Beach, Florida, Donna Dwyer and her husband Frank, Freehold, Timothy Ryan and his wife Mary Anne, Skillman, Christine Boyle and her husband Gerald, Middletown, and ten grandchildren, Kayla Ryan, Kathleen and Raymond King, Keara and Joseph Dwyer, Conor, Morrin, Daire and Donagh Ryan and Margaret Boyle. Also are surviving are his brother, Hayne Ryan, Painswick, England, extended family, cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Visitation will be Friday, February 27th from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.at Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold. A Mass of Christian Burial at Saint Rose of Lima Church, Freehold, at 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 28, 2009. In lieu of flowers the family has requested a donation be made to the St. Rose of Lima Building Fund, 16 McLean St., Freehold, NJ 07728.
