Obituary of Brother Cyril O'Neill FSC
Brother Cyril O’Neill, 84, of Lincroft died Thursday, May 16, 2013 at De La Salle Hall, Lincroft. Brother Cyril was born in New York City and had received the Holy Habit of the Christian Brothers on September 7, 1945.
Brother Cyril was a graduate of Queens College and University of Cambridge, both of Cambridge, England where he received his Bachelor of Arts Degree and Master of Arts Degree and Birkbeck College, London where he received a Master of Science Degree.
Brother Cyril’s assignments included De La Salle Grammar School, Sheffield, England where he was department chairman, De La Salle Grammar School, Liverpool, England wehre he was principal and director, St. Aloysius College, London, England where he was chairman of the Religion Department from 1969 to 1972 and chairman of the Geography Department from 1972 to 1982, St. Illtyd’s School, Cardiff, England where he served as principal, and La Salle Institute, Troy, N.Y. Brother Cyril served at Christian Brothers Academy, Lincroft from 1988 until taking residence at De La Salle Hall in 2011.
The viewing will be held at Christian Brothers Academy, Alumni Hall, Newman Springs Road, Lincroft on Tuesday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 7:00 p.m. The interment will be on Wednesday at St. Gabriel’s Cemetery, Marlboro Township. Memorial donations to De La Salle Nursing Development, 810 Newman Springs Road, Lincroft, NJ 07738 would be appreciated. Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold is in charge of arrangements.
