Obituary of Dennis McGackin

Dennis K. McGackin, Jr. age 27, passed at his home on May 21, 2009 in Freehold Township. He was a graduate of Christian Brothers Academy, Lincroft, Class of 2000, attended the Berklee College of Music, Boston, Mass. and was employed at Dick's Sporting Goods. He was most proud of being a part of his McGackin ancestry and was the family historian. He had a great love and pride for his hometown of Freehold; was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox; and was associated with the Brain Injury Association of New Jersey. DJ was the youngest of Irene and Jack McGackin's 21 grandchildren. He will be missed by his 20 cousins and 48 second cousins along with many friends. DJ is survived by his parents Dennis and Kathy McGackin; sisters Kelly McGackin and Courtney McMurray and brother-in-law Blake McMurray; his God Mother Helen Evans; and uncles and aunts Joseph Yockel, Ricky and Eileen McGackin, Bill and Jean McGackin, Jerry and Colleen McGackin, Gail and Lester Preston, and Jane and George Maury. Visiting hours will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Church, Freehold on Monday at 10:00 a.m. followed by interment at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold.
