Obituary of John P. Erndl
John P. Erndl, Sr., 74, of Millstone Township died Saturday, June 20, 2009 at home. Mr. Erndl was born in New York City and had resided in Jamesburg before moving to Millstone Township 35 years ago.
He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War and had served in the Army National Guard for 19 years.
Mr. Erndl was a butcher at the Jamesburg State Home for Boys for 27 years.
He was a graduate of Jamesburg High School, a communicant of St. Joseph’s R. C. Church, Millstone Township and a member of Jamesburg Council, Knights of Columbus.
Surviving are his wife, Carol Jean Ivins Erndl; three sons, John Patrick Erndl, Jr., Charles Paul Erndl, and Bryan Matthew Erndl; four daughters, Colleen Meola, Maureen Minter, Michelle Reynolds, and Mary Bridget Erndl; two brothers, James and Peter Erndl; a sister, Elise Marriner; and six grandchildren; Courtney, Sabrina, Caitlynne, Samantha, Ethan, and Ryan.
Visiting will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Tuesday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Church, 91 Stillhouse Road, Millstone Township on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. followed by interment at the parish cemetery. Memorial donations to the St. Barnabas Hospice and Palliative Care Center, 95 Old Short Hills Road, West Orange, NJ 07052 would be appreciated.
