Obituary of Joseph Peter Preston

Joseph Peter Preston, 74, of Spring Lake Heights died Monday, June 22, 2009 at home. Mr. Preston was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. and had resided there before moving to Spring Lake Heights in 1992. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Preston was a New York City police officer for 20 years before his retirement in 1981. He was a member of the Manasquan Elks Lodge and New York City Policemen’s Benevolent Association. His wife, Kathryn Preston, died in 1991. Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Kathleen Preston and Joseph and Jacqueline Preston; a daughter and son-in-law, Christine and Thomas Foley; and four grandchildren, Lauren, Timothy, Bryan, and Claire. Visiting will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Wednesday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at St. Robert Bellarmine R.C. Church, 61 Georgia Road, Freehold on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. Memorial donations to the American Diabetes Association would be appreciated.
