Obituary of Charlotte Wilson Borden
Charlotte Wilson Borden, 88, of Freehold Township died Monday, July 20, 2009 at The Manor, Freehold Township. Mrs. Borden was born in Holmdel Township and had resided in the Wickatunk section of Marlboro Township before moving to Freehold Township in 1964.
She was a founding resident and chairperson of the Sunshine Committee of Monmouth Crossing where she resided for the past nine years.
Mrs. Borden was a school bus driver for Freehold Township Board of Education for over 40 years before her retirement in 1998.
She was a graduate of Freehold High School, Class of 1938 and became a licensed practical nurse after graduation from a nursing school in Newark.
Mrs. Borden was a member of the Reformed Church of Freehold, Monmouth Grange, and the Freehold Township Fire Independent Fire Company No. 1 Auxiliary. She was an accomplished wedding cake baker and decorator.
Her husband, Charles F. “Chub” Borden, died in 1999. She was also predeceased by a brother, Joseph H. Wilson who died in 2000 and a sister, Goldie Parenteau who died two weeks ago.
Surviving are a brother, Lemuel E. Wilson, North Carolina; her nieces, Terry and Malcolm Parker, Pat and John Eisemann, and Mary Lou and Tom Kivela; and several great nieces and nephews; and her friend and caregiver for the past five years, Carol Brown.
Visiting hours will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Thursday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 10:00 a.m. followed by interment at Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold.
