Obituary of Katherine B. Pavel

Katherine B. Pavel, 89, of Freehold Township died Friday, September 11, 2009 at home. Mrs. Pavel was born in Jersey City and had resided in Roselle before moving to Freehold Township in 1962. Mrs. Pavel was a cafeteria worker at Freehold High School and later Freehold Township High School before her retirement 22 years ago. Prior to that she was employed at Westinghouse, Kearny. She was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church, Freehold; a member of Seniors First, and enjoyed bowling and traveling. Her husband, Edward J. Pavel, died in 1987. A daughter, Gail Hankinson, died in 2002. Surviving are two sons, Edward Pavel, Jr. and Kenneth Pavel; two daughters, Joyce John and Karen Dempsey; and five grandchildren, Dawn Wrobel, Brendan Dempsey, Edward Dempsey, Caitlin Dempsey, Melissa Pavel. Visiting will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Sunday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Chapel, Freehold on Monday at 10:00 a.m. followed by entombment at St. Rose of Lima Mausoleum, Freehold. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
