Obituary of Roland Miller
Roland Miller, Sr., 79, of Jackson Township died Thursday, October 1, 2009 at Care One at Jackson, Jackson Township. He was born in Schenectady, N.Y. and had resided in Howell Township before moving to Jackson Township.
He was a fork lift operator for the Helme Snuff Mill, Helmetta before his retirement. After retirement he was employed at Care One at Jackson for 12 years.
Mr. Miller was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge and Korean Service Medal with two bronze service stars. He was a retired member of New Jersey Army National Guard, C Battery, 3rd 112th Field Artillery, 50th Armored Division, Toms River.
He enjoyed hunting and spending time with his family.
Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Arlene Walling Miller; four sons and daughters in law, Roland, Jr. and Marie, Fred and Anne, Scott and Denise, and Rodney and Renee; a daughter and son-in-law, Lori and Fred Pollin; a brother, Clifford Miller; 15 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and his dog Rusty.
Visiting will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Monday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. followed by interment at Old Tennent Cemetery, Tennent. Flowers or memorial donations to the American Cancer Society would be appreciated.
