Obituary of Richard R. Canning

Richard R. Canning, 72, of Chelsea, Maine passed away Sunday, Oct 4, 2009 surrounded by his loving family at the Maine General Medical Center in Augusta. He was born in Freehold and lived in Manasquan prior to moving to Chelsea ten years ago. Richard graduated from Freehold High School, Class of 1955. He was a U.S. Marine Corp veteran. He was an exempt member of the Manasquan Hook and Ladder #1. He was a New Jersey Bell employee serving for thirty two years before retiring in 1995. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Judith J. Spengler Canning; two sons, Christopher (Kit) Canning and his wife Kris of West Gardiner, Maine, John (Steve) Canning and his wife Catherine (Kit), Manasquan; and five grandchildren. A memorial gathering will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Sunday, October 11, 2009.from 2:00 to 5:00 P.M. Inurnment will be held on Monday, October 11, 2009 at 10:00 A.M. at Monmouth Memorial Park Cemetery, Tinton Falls.
