Obituary of Douglas J. Oakley
Douglas J. Oakley, 44, of Howell Township died Tuesday, December 1, 2009 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. He was born in Richmond, Virginia and had resided in Marlboro Township before moving to Howell Township.
He owned and operated HOE Excavating Company.
He was a communicant of St. Thomas More R.C. Church, Manalapan Township. He was a graduate of Marlboro High School, Class of 1983 and a member of Shore Builders Association.
Doug was an avid skier, hunter, golfer, and scuba diver.
Surviving are a son, Douglas Vincent Oakley; his parents, Ward and Patricia Huben Oakley; a sister, Donna Hogan; a niece, Amanda Hogan. He is fondly remembered by his 12 aunts and uncles and 21 cousins.
Visiting hours will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Thursday from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and Friday 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at St. Thomas More Church, 186 Gordons Corner Road, Manalapan Township on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. followed by entombment at St. Gabriel’s Mausoleum, Marlboro Township. In lieu of flowers memorial donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 would be appreciated.
