Obituary of John Leo Dailey
John Leo (Joe) Dailey, of Freehold, passed away on Thursday, December 10 while visiting his daughter and son-in-law in Silver Spring, MD. He was 91. He was born in Freehold and spent most of his life there. During World War II he served for nearly five years in the Army, attaining the rank of Master Sergeant in the Signal Corps.
John graduated from Freehold High School and also attended the Philadelphia Textile Institute. Before and after the war, he worked at Karagheusian Rug Mill where he met his future wife, Louise Pine. They were married in 1942 and had 2 children.
Eventually, he became a purchasing agent for several electronics companies in the area, retiring in 1985 from PerkinElmer. For a short time before retirement he was a real estate agent at Denise Realty.
John loved to read, play golf, play the piano and clarinet, listen to jazz, and go to concerts at the Monmouth County Library.
He was predeceased by his wife, Louise, and son, Bob and his brothers, Donald and Harold. Surviving are his daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Jeff Olsen.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 19, 2009 at Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center St, Freehold beginning at 11:00 a.m. A memorial service will begin at 11:30 a.m.
