Obituary of Francis A. Riopel
Francis A. Riopel, 90, of Marlboro Township died Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at Wedgwood Gardens, Freehold Township. He was born in Colts Neck Township and had resided in Marlboro for most of his life.
He served in the U.S. Navy from 1942 to 1946.
Mr. Riopel was Postmaster of the Marlboro Post Office where he was employed for 38 years before his retirement in 1988.
He was a communicant of St. Gabriel’s Church, Marlboro, an exempt member of the Marlboro Fire Company, and a member of Freehold Council No. 1672, Knights of Columbus.
His wife, Elizabeth Ann Riopel, died in 2013. He was also predeceased by a brother Donald and a sister Joan.
Surviving are a son, Michael F. Riopel; a granddaughter, Megan Riopel; and two great grandchildren, Michael and Samantha.
The viewing will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Monday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at St. Gabriel’s Historic Church, 549 Route 520, Marlboro on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. followed by entombment at St. Gabriel’s Cemetery. Memorial donations to the Marlboro Fire Company would be appreciated.
