Obituary of John J. Daugila
John J. Daugila, 90, of Freehold, died Monday, December 21, 2009 at home with loved ones. Born in Freehold, he lived in Jamesburg and moved to his home in Freehold 59 years ago.
John was a veteran of World War II, serving overseas in Europe for the Army Signal Corp. He was a member of the Freehold Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 4374. After the war he worked for Wurlitzer fixing juke boxes. Then he found his career as an Electrical Engineer at Camp Evans Fort Monmouth, retiring in 1980. He was also well known as TV-John because of his television repair service in Freehold. He made many service calls and hooked up many antennas. In his spare time he loved to travel. John was an active member of St. Rose of Lima Church, Freehold.
John leaves behind his loving wife of 61 years, Bertha; two sons and daughter in laws, John and Eileen Daugila, Wall; Frank and Susan Daugila, Howell; one daughter and son in law, Kathleen and Doug Hulse, Englishtown; four grandchildren, Melissa, Michael, Holly and Allison and one great-grandchild, Kayla. He4 will be dearly missed by family and friends.
Visitation will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Sunday, December 27, 2009 from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will take place on Monday, December 28, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Freehold.
