Obituary of Edna M. Provost

Edna Mae Griffiths Provost, 90 of Freehold, passed away on Thursday, December 24, 2015 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. She was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She attended the West Freehold School, then a one room school, and graduated 8th grade from the “new” West Freehold School. She was a graduate of Freehold High School. She worked at the A. & M. Karagheusian Rug Mill, Brockway Glass Company, and later at 3-M Company, retiring in 1981. She was a member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, Freehold. Edna and her husband John split their time between Freehold and Auburn, MA until John’s retirement, then they were “snowbirds” making Freehold home and Zephyrhills, Florida their winter retreat. She was predeceased by her parents, Sydney Griffiths and Nellie Cantrell Griffiths, two sisters, Barbara G. Willis and Joyce E. Day, and her two husbands, James “Russell” Provost and John R. Provost. Surviving are a daughter, Linda Scheidt, Brick Township; a granddaughter, Amanda Perry, Brick Township; and three great grandchildren, Elisia, Makayla and Cole; a sister, Gloria E. Haraz, Boulder City, Nevada; her caretakers, Mark and Jackie Willis, Freehold Township; and many other nieces and nephews around the country cherishing her memories. Visitation will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Saturday, December 26, 2015 from 11:30 until the Funeral Service at 1:30 P.M. Interment to follow at Adelphia Cemetery, Howell Township. Donations in her memory to the Freehold First Aid Squad, 18 Spring Street, Freehold, would be appreciated.
