Obituary of Catherine White Williams
Catherine White Williams of Freehold Township died on January 26, 2010. She was born on March 12, 1914 in Freehold Borough. She was predeceased by her parents, Dr. Augustus R. White and Anna Carman White and her sisters, Henrietta Conover, Clarice Willard and Margaret Bussum. Catherine graduated from Freehold High School in 1931 and from Montclair State College with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1935. In 1968 she was awarded a Master of Science degree from Kean College.
Catherine was a professional educator for over 30 years most of them as a teacher and administrator in the Freehold Township School District. She served for nine years on the Freehold Borough Board of Education and ten years on the Freehold Regional Board of Education.
A member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Freehold, Catherine is survived by her son, Leonard B. “Mike” Williams and his wife, Mary; two grandsons and their wives, Christopher W. and Marycatherine, Derry, N.H. and Ian W. and Kathleen, Ambler, Pennsylvania; and a niece, Gretchen Batchelar, Point Pleasant.
Visitation will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Friday, January 29 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. with a service to follow. Interment at Old Tennent Cemetery will be private.
