Obituary of Charles Peter Bennett
Charles Peter Bennett, 82, of Port St. Lucie, Florida died Thursday, January 28, 2010 at The Broadmoor, Fort Pierce, Florida. He was born in New York City and had resided in Freehold Township before moving to Florida in 1989.
He was a U.S. Army Air Force veteran.
Mr. Bennett was a store manager for McCrory Corporation, Jersey City.
Mr. Bennett was a communicant of St. Lucie Church, Port St. Lucie where he was a Eucharistic minister and a former communicant of St. Rose of Lima R.C. Church, Freehold.
He was a graduate of the College of William and Mary, Williamsburg, Virginia; a past president of the Freehold Township Lions Club, a member of Knights of Columbus, Council 7514, Port St Lucie FL and the Alzheimer’s Association of Southeast Florida.
Surviving are his wife, Marie Boutote Bennett; two sons, George and Charles Bennett; a daughter, Sandra Kaiser; his stepchildren, Dennis, Phillip, Chris, Martin, and Mark Boutote, Donna Storz, and Lynette Bresnahan; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren; 21 step grandchildren; and seven step great grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Tuesday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Church, Freehold on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. followed by interment at the parish cemetery. A Memorial Mass wii be celebrated at St Lucie Catholic Church at a later date. Memorial donations to Treasure Coast Hospices, 2500 Virginia Ave., Suite 202 Fort Pierce, FL 34981 would be appreciated.
