Obituary of Nicholas F. Salvetti
Nicholas F. Salvetti, 79, of Freehold Township died Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Mr. Salvetti was born in New York City and had resided in Freehold for the past 61 years.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and received the Bronze Star Award.
He was postmaster of the Colts Neck Post Office before his retirement in 1989. During his career he served in several post offices including the Freehold Post Office for many years.
He was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church, Freehold where he served as an usher. He was a member of Freehold Council No. 1672, Knights of Columbus, National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association and the Freehold Township Senior Center.
He was a well known musician and accordion player and performed with several area trios.
He was predeceased by a son, Richard Salvetti, in 1973,
Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Catherine Previte Salvetti; a son and daughter-in-law, Frank and Susan Salvetti; a daughter and son-in-law, Victoria and Ron Brownley; a sister, Virginia Salvetti; and four grandchildren, Holly, Olivia, Nicholas, and Carlo.
Visiting hours will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Friday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Church, Freehold on Saturday at noon followed by interment at the parish cemetery.
