Obituary of Sophie E. Byk Snodgrass

Sophie E. Byk Snodgrass, 90, of Freehold Township died Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at home. Born in Jersey City, she lived most of her life in Freehold and wintered in Winter Park, Florida. Mrs. Snodgrass was a registered nurse at the John L. Montgomery Medical Home, Freehold Township. She was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima R.C. Church, Freehold. She was the secretary and treasurer for the Polish National American Society, Chicago, Illinois. Mrs. Snodgrass was predeceased by her husband, James Snodgrass; her parents, John and Anna Narkowicz Byk; a brother, Edward Byk; and a sister, Lillian Cottrell. Surviving are two brothers, John Byk, Freehold Township, and Peter P. Byk, Salisbury, Maryland; and several generations of nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Friday, February 26, 2010 from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. and 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at St. Rose of Lima R.C. Church on Saturday at 10:00 A.M. Interment will follow at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold.
