Obituary of Fern V. Szalankiewicz

Fern V. “Rocky” Szalankiewicz, 91, of Colts Neck Township died Saturday, February 27, 2010 at home. Mrs. Szalankiewicz was born in Girardville, Pennsylvania and had resided in Neptune Township before moving to Colts Neck in 1954. Mrs. Szalankiewicz and her family have owned and operated Green Meadows Restaurant, Colts Neck since 1954. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s R.C. Church, Colts Neck Township. Her husband, Eugene J. Szalankiewicz, died in 2000. She was also predeceased by a sister, Mary and three brothers, Tony, Benny, and Leon Budraitis Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Eugene M. and Lucy Szalankiewicz; a daughter, Fern L. Szalankiewicz; and a brother, Phil Budraitis. Visiting will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Monday from 4:00 to 7:30 p.m. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Church, Colts Neck on Tuesday at 9:00 a.m. followed by interment at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold.
