I sit here on Thanksgiving Day, once again feeling forever grateful and thankful for the opportunity Mr. Radosti gave me to work at his hobby shop (1985-1990), building, painting and teaching customers how to fly remote control helicopters. So many words of advice and lessons I remember from he and Rita which I have used throughout my life. He had a sense of humor about him without even trying, but was also very serious when he told stories that had a lesson in them. I was never able to afford any of the models that I bought from the shop…but Vinny let me pay over time by working and applying a portion of my pay toward the balance that I owed. Rita kept track on a pad of paper. Each time I would come in to work on the weekends, or when I ran one of the helicopter clinics on the third Saturday of each month, he would say to her, “Go ahead and subtract xxxx dollars off his balance,” Then when my balance was paid off, they would write “Paid in full.’ on the paper, sign it and give it to me. Now that I think about it…I never even received any money from them, it was all me working to pay for the helicopters I got from the shop. Very valuable way of teaching someone young how to earn what they have by working for it.
My deepest condolences to the Radosti, Reeves and Weeden families. Vincent and Rita are forever remembered for their kindness, generosity and character. God bless always.
( I have attached a photo of me teaching how to start a remote control helicopter as a student looks on. The picture was taken by another student who owned the helicopter named Joe Holt.)
