Obituary of Melvin E. Winkelman

Melvin E. Winkelman, age 69 , passed away on Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at Centrastate Medical Center, Freehold, surrounded by his family. Born in Brookville, PA., he lived in Freehold prior to moving to Manalapan 40 years ago. He worked as a Machinist for Owen-Brockway Glass, Freehold Township for 30 years before his retirement in 2002. He was a parishioner of St. Thomas More RC Church, Manalapan. He was a lifetime member and past Captain of the Freehold First Aid Squad. Melvin is survived by his wife, Barbara A. Niebauer Winkelman, a son David Winkelman and his wife Dr. Margaret Faustini-Winkelman of Jackson Township, a daughter Christina Winkelman of Freehold, a brother Howard Winkelman of Reynoldsville, PA. and his grandchildren Olivia, Luke and Gabrielle Winkelman. Visiting hours will be Friday, April 9, from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold. Funeral services will begin Saturday, 9am at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Thomas More R.C. Church, Manalapan. Interment will take place at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Melvin’s memory to the Freehold First Aid Squad or St. Vincent De Paul Society at St. Thomas More Church.
