Obituary of Mary Reeves Burke

Mary Reeves Burke, 87, passed into her eternal rest on April 20, 2010, a resident of Beaumont TX. Mrs. Burke lived in TX since 1971. She was born September 8, 1922 in Newburyport, MA. In 1944 Mrs. Burke married John F. Burke who also grew up in Newburyport. They lived in Roselle NJ until their 1971 move to Beaumont. She was a communicant of St Anne’s Church in Beaumont. She belonged to the St. Anne’s Ladies Club and the church choir. For many years she was a volunteer at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital. Mrs Burke is predeceased by her husband John F. Burke, Sr. who died in 1999. A daughter Anne Marie Burke died in 1962. Four children survive: Catherine F. Beck and her husband Richard from Freehold, NJ; John F. Burke, Jr. and his wife Michelle from Bossier City, LA; Thomas J. Burke and his wife Susan from Beaumont, TX; and Richard P. Burke and his wife, Denise, of Blaine, MN. Mrs. Burke is also survived by her grandchildren, Brian A. Beck; Charles D. Beck; Daniel Burke and his wife, Laura; Andrew Burke; Christine Burke; Emily Burke; Michael Burke; Melissa Burke; Christopher Burke; Anne Marie Burke; and five great grandchildren, Skylar Burke, Jacob Burke, Logan Burke, Daniel Burke and Dylan Burke. Funeral services are being arranged by Broussards Funeral Home. A prayer service will be held on Thursday evening at Broussards. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at St Rose of Lima Church in Freehold, NJ on Saturday, April 24, 2010 at 9:30 a.m. with friends gathering at 8:30 a.m. at Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center St., Freehold, NJ. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Western Monmouth Habitat for Humanity, PO Box 62, Freehold, NJ 07728. Internment will be at St Gertrude’s Cemetery in Colonia, New Jersey.
