Obituary of Joseph J. Patterson
Joseph J. Patterson, Sr., 62, of Neptune Township died May 7, 2010 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune Township. He was born in Neptune and was a lifelong resident of the area.
He was a service manager for the State of New Jersey Central Motor Pool, Rahway before his retirement.
Mr. Patterson was a member of Victory Tabernacle, Asbury Park.
He was a renowned guitar player and karate practitioner.
He was predeceased by his parents, Mariah Patterson and Joseph Rolfe; two brothers, Albert and Harry Patterson and a sister, Betty Williams.
Surviving are his wife, Diane Calhoun Patterson; a son, Joseph Patterson, Jr.; four daughters, Adele Calhoun, Cassandra Cobbs and her husband Solomon, Sr., Diane Thomas and her husband Jonathan, Jr., and Loretha Calhoun; three brothers, Lawrence Patterson and his wife Linda, Hildrew and Charles Williams; two sisters, Ruby and Annie Pearl Williams; nine grandchildren, Ashley, Jahmir, Kassan, Nyzier, Ajee, Justin, Jahmel, Joseph, and Nyla; his brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Charles, James, Jerome, Anthony, William, Quaraan, Timothy, and Evelyn; and his faithful and loving friends from the motor pool.
The viewing will be held on Friday at Good Hope Baptist Church 1306 Washington Avenue, Asbury Park from 7:00 to 9:00 pm and on Saturday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Funeral services will be held at the church on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at followed by interment at Monmouth Memorial Park, Tinton Falls. Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold is in charge of arrangements.
