Obituary of Frank Lombardi
Frank Lombardi
1962-2016
On Wednesday morning, January 6, 2016, Frank Lombardi joined his sister Karen in heaven. Frank sustained fatal injuries in a motor vehicle accident on December 28, 2015. While Frank fought to recover, his wife Melissa and his family, including his best friend Craig Lukeman, kept constant vigil at his bedside. Frank was the cherished, loving husband of Melissa Johnson-Lombardi, formerly of West Hartford, CT, and proud father of sons Frank Lombardi Jr., David McBride, and daughter-in-law to be Ariana Bacigalupo. Frank was the beloved son of Magda Lombardi of Jackson, NJ, and devoted brother of Rose Lombardi, Jackson, NJ, Angelina Lombardi (Jeannie) Humphreys and Hal Humphreys of Sacramento, CA, and Karen (Lombardi) Smith. Frank was a fun-loving and favorite uncle to Christina Rasiewicz, Michael and Fallon Bennett and Sierra Smith.
Frank was also adored by Melissa’s family who were instantly won-over by his gentle smile and Jersey charm. Frank’s in-laws include his Mother-in-law Ann M. Johnson-Bly, Father-in-law Dustin W. Bly of Farmington, CT, Sister-in-law Beth Ann Johnson, brother-in-law John Moran, niece Julia and nephews Mateo and Luke Moran of Bloomfield, CT, and sister-in-law Suzanne Bly of Meriden, CT.
Frank spent his childhood in Freehold, NJ, graduating from Freehold Township High School. He lived in Spring, Texas from 1988-1992 before his Jersey roots called him home. Frank loved his two boys and his happiest moments were times when the whole family came together.
Frank loved the wide open road, and true to his Jersey upbringing he was happiest on the back of his Harley or behind the wheel of his “baby,” his silver Mercedes E320, cruising with Melissa to the Jersey Shore to spend a day together on the water with his buddy Craig. Frank’s friendship with Craig spanned over 40 years with a lifetime of stories and adventures between them. He was a loyal friend. Frank was a kind and devoted husband to Melissa. All who were fortunate enough to witness their wedding, in the beautiful stained glass sanctuary of Saint Patrick’s Church in Farmington, CT knew theirs was a special love.
The family would like to thank the wonderfully caring staff of the Jersey City Medical Center ICU for helping Frank and his family through this difficult time.
Viewing will be held on Friday, January 8, 2016, from 9:00 am to 10:30 am at Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold, NJ. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. at Saint Rose of Lima Church, 16 McLean Street, Freehold, NJ. Interment will follow at Saint Rose of Lima Cemetery.
Donations in lieu of flowers may be made in Frank’s name to the ASPCA or Saint Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
