Obituary of Frances Marie Kostbar
Frances Marie Kostbar, 94, of Manalapan Township died Friday, May 21, 2010 at home. Mrs. Kostbar was born in Old Bridge and had resided in Manalapan Township since 1956.
She was a graduate of South River High School.
Mrs. Kostbar was a school bus driver for the Manalapan Englishtown Regional Schools where she was employed for 31 years before her retirement in 1987. She had previously worked as a floor lady in a lamp factory in South River. Mrs. Kostar had also been employed at Agway Market, Englishtown.
She was a lifelong self-employed farmer and road stand operator and made Christmas decorations until her ninetieth birthday. During World War II she drove an ammunition truck at the Earle Weapons Station.
Mrs. Kostbar was a Girl Scout Troop No. 55 and Boy Scout Leader in Englishtown
She was a member of the Robertsville Bible Protestant Church where she was a Sunday School teacher. She was a former member of the Hillsboro Methodist Church, Old Bridge where she was a choir member and Sunday School teacher.
Her husband, Gustav Adolf Kostbar, died in 1987. She was also predeceased by her daughter-in-law, Helen S. Kostbar; and her siblings, Gladys Green, Stanford F. Williams, and Pauline Boyce.
Surviving are a son, Otto James Kostbar, Jamesburg; a daughter, Julia Mary Alice Kostbar, at home.
Visiting hours will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Monday and Tuesday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. followed by interment at Old Tennent Cemetery, Tennent.
