Obituary of Marie J. Maietta

Marie J Maietta nee Breglio, of Freehold Township died peacefully Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at Care One Wall Township after a brief illness. She was born in 1926 in New York City on the Lower East Side. She resided in the Bay Ridge section of Brooklyn for 38 years before moving to Freehold in 1993. She graduated from Washington Irving High School. She cherished her family and volunteered at St. Patrick’s Church in Brooklyn serving as President of the Rosary Society. She was employed as an administrative assistant to the men’s merchandising group at Abraham and Straus for 20 years, before retiring in 1993. She enjoyed politics, shopping and spending time with her family. She was predeceased in 1992 by her loving husband of 43 years, Frank. She is survived by her two daughters and their husbands, Francine and John Jacobsen and Denise and Michael LaMagna of Freehold, her 4 cherished grandchildren and their spouses Caroline Berdzik and TJ, John Jacobsen and Laura, Matthew and Jenna LaMagna. She was the beloved great-grandmother to Julia Emily and Connor Thaddeus Berdzik and Emily Maie Jacobsen. She was predeceased by her brother Nicholas Breglio, and sister Concetta Valentino and is also survived by her sister, Anna D’Argenio, and many other relatives and friends. Visiting will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday and Monday at Higgins Memorial Home 20 Center Street, Freehold. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Church Freehold. A burial will follow at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold. Donations in her name can be sent to Fontbonne Hall Academy 9901 Shore Road Brooklyn, NY 11209.
