Obituary of Rose Lamb Kaye
Rose Lamb Kaye, of Freehold Township died Saturday at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. She was born in 1917 the first of nine children of Joseph & Cecilia Lamb in Manalapan, NJ. Two brothers and one sister survive, Leo Lamb of South Brunswick, NJ Vincent Lamb of Middletown, NJ and Mary Lancaster of Freehold, NJ. Rose was predeceased by one sister, Cecilia, and four brothers, John, William, Joseph, and Stephen. Mrs. Kaye was a graduate of Freehold High School and was one of the first women to graduate from Trenton State College.
Prior to World War II, she worked as an administrative assistant to a U.S. Army General at Fort Monmouth. She later worked as a Traffic Supervisor at AT&T, and after retirement was engaged in her own business of child care for several families in the area.
She married John Kaye in 1941 who predeceased her in 2004. Five sons were born of that union and all survive her, John Kaye of Freehold, NJ, Stephen Kaye of Amelia Island, Fl. ,William Kaye of Brick, NJ, James Kaye of Los Angeles, CA and David Kaye of Freehold, NJ. She is also survived by nine loving grandchildren and four loving great grandchildren.
She was a lifelong communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church in Freehold. She was the rock and moral compass of her family. She loved, supported, guided and positively influenced the lives of her siblings, her children, and their children, her great grandchildren and her twenty nieces and nephews. She cherished the company of her friends and family, especially that of her great grandchildren. Rose had many hobbies and enjoyed field picking of fruit and vegetables at local farms. She was a great cook who loved baking and teaching family and friends the art of canning and making delicious home baked pies and cakes from scratch.
Visiting hours will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home 20 Center Street, Freehold on Monday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Church, Freehold on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. Memorial donations to Freehold First Aid and Emergency Squad, 18 Spring Street, Freehold, NJ 07728 would be appreciated.
