Obituary of Robert L. Emmons
Robert L. “The Duck” Emmons, Sr., 76, of Marlboro Township passed away on Friday October 29, 2010 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. He was born and raised in Marlboro Township where he was a lifelong resident.
He was a carpenter by trade building custom homes in Colts Neck. He was an owner/trainer in the Standardbred horse industry for over twenty years. During his journey in life he also worked for Tilton Pump Service here in Marlboro.
In the end he followed his dreams becoming a member of Sheet Metal Local No. 27 for nearly 30 years of service before his retirement. He was an avid fisherman, duck hunter, golfer and craftsman.
He was a member of the New Egypt Elks Lodge and an exempt member of the Marlboro Fire Department. He also served in the N.J. National Guard.
He gave back to his friends and community never expecting anything in return. He was predeceased by his father Bert Emmons, mother Emma Emmons, brother Willard Emmons and sister Doris Forman.
Surviving are his beloved wife, Louise Shebanie Emmons; a son, Robert L Emmons Jr.; and two grandsons, Bradford and Brandon Emmons.
Visiting hours will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Wednesday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. followed by entombment at Marlboro Memorial Mausoleum, Route 79, Marlboro Township.
