Obituary of John Tammadge
John Tammadge, 60, of Freehold Township died suddenly, at home, November 3, 2010.
He was a resident of Freehold Township for the past 18 months. Prior to that, John resided with his niece Lori Cogliano and her family for 4 years in Hardwick, N.J. John was born in Brooklyn, NY where he graduated from Midwood High School, worked and lived most of his life.
He retired from the U.S. Post Office in 2005 following more than thirty years of service and enjoyed working at Sam's Club of Mt. Olive until 2009.
John was a horse racing enthusiast, baseball fan, especially the Mets, and remained a faithful Jets and Knicks fan. John was an avid baseball card collector and visited the Hall of Fame in Cooperstown many times. He spent many days and nights at Shea, happily shivering in the worst seats during the fabled '69 World Series, traveled to Wrigley Field, Fenway Park and Yankee Stadium and brought his beloved Nana on many of these pilgrimages. He truly enjoyed Las Vegas where he could bet on races across the country. He attended the Kentucky Derby, The Preakness and The Belmont Stakes almost annually. John was a great movie and TV fan with a vast collection of his most favorite titles. John was a kind and gentle soul who would give you the shirt off his back. He had a booming laugh and the widest grin. He was a loving son, grandson, brother and uncle. John will be sorely missed and joyfully remembered by his family and friends.
John was predeceased by his parents Harry and Doris Tammadge, grandparents, Jack and Frances Burnell, and Harry and Louise Tammadge. Left to mourn are his sister Patricia Hamilton and her husband Richard of Freehold, sister Terry Tammadge of Austin TX, brothers Michael of Freehold and James and wife Kathleen of Mc Lean, VA.
