Obituary of Robert F. Owens

Robert F. “Bobby O” Owens, Sr. 80, of Freehold, formerly of Little Ferry, passed away at home with his family at his side on Friday, November 5, 2010. He was born in Hoboken to Mae and James Owens. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a 45 year member of Teamster Local No. 560 retiring from Meadowlands Racetrack, East Rutherford in 1994. Surviving are his loving wife of 35 years, Anna Iuliano Owens; his devoted children, Sharon Owens, Barbara Ross and her husband Phil, Robert Owens, Gerard Owens, Kevin Owens and his wife Sue, Mark Owens and his wife Linda, Mary Ann Conners and her husband Jeff, and Carla Llewellyn and her husband Jack. He was a devoted grandfather to 15 cherished grandchildren. He was also survived by a brother, James Owens and sister, Joan Sgherza; and many loving nieces and nephews.He was predeceased by his first wife, Betty Sheridan Owens and a brother, Raymond Owens. He will be sadly missed but never forgotten by his loving family and many friends. Visiting hours will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street Freehold on Monday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Church, Freehold on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. followed by interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.
