Obituary of Eric Harold Foster
Eric Harold Foster, Jr., 67, of Freehold passed away on November 19, 2010 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. He was born on November 8, 1943 at Summit, was raised in Spring Lake, and graduated from Freehold Regional High School.
Eric was an Eagle Scout with Bronze Palm, member of the Order of the Arrow and Scout Life Guard. He was a charter member and first President of the East Freehold Fire Company. He was a two term Freehold Borough Councilman serving as Council President and on the Economic Development Committee, Finance Committee, and Water and Sewer Committee. Eric also served on the Borough of Freehold Planning Board and the Borough of Freehold Zoning Board of Adjustment. He was a U.S. Selective Service System Board member.
Eric retired from McGraw-Hill Book Company as General Manager, Professional Publishing Services, Hightstown.
He and his wife Sandra enjoyed sailing, power boating, domestic and international travel and cruising.
Eric is survived by his wife Sandra J MacMillan Foster; sisters, Dorothy J. Dreyer and her husband Dick, Judith A. Frevert and her husband Andy, brothers, Douglas A. Foster and his wife Karin, Jack M. Foster, and Jeffrey W. Foster and his wife Joyce, as well as nieces Jaime and Jen Foster and nephews, Richard Dreyer and his wife Susan, Peter Foster, Drew Frevert and Tom Frevert and his wife Julia; and a sister-in-law, Sharon L. MacMillan.
Visiting hours will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Friday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church, 118 West Main Street, Freehold on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. Memorial donations to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, PO Box 4072, Pittsfield, MA 01202 would be appreciated.
