Obituary of Gloria Marie Boyle

Gloria Marie DeSarno Boyle, 86, of Freehold, died Thursday, December 2, 2010 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Mrs. Boyle was born on October 28, 1924 to Joseph and Dunette DeSarno of Asbury Park. She attended Bangs Avenue School and was a graduate of Asbury Park High School, Class of 1942. Upon graduation in 1942 she became a draftsman for Fort Monmouth during World War II. After the war she was employed at Freehold Telephone and Telegraph Company. On April 28, 1946 she married her beloved James William Boyle of Freehold at Holy Spirit R.C. Church, Asbury Park. She and her husband raised their family in Freehold when her husband retired from the F.B.I. and opened a law practice. Gloria worked in her husband’s law office and then in the Monmouth County Clerk’s Office under Jane Clayton. Gloria was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima R. C. Church. She was active in the Monmouth County Republican Club, Battleground Country Club, and Deal Golf Club. Gloria loved golf, tennis, skiing, swimming, platform tennis, playing bridge, and was an avid reader. Gloria was the matriarch of her cherished family. She is survived by her husband, Honorable J. William Boyle, her sisters, Constance Musto and Anita Raab and her three children, William Boyle and his wife Gailanne, Basking Ridge, Kathleen Palkovic and her husband Ivan, Frederick, Maryland; and Patrick Boyle and his wife JoAnne, Freehold; six grandchildren, Ivan, Patrick, and Joseph Palkovic, Marie, Shannon and Caroline Boyle; and three great grandchildren, Rose, Eleanor and Perla Palkovic. Visiting hours will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Church, Freehold on Monday at 10:00 a.m. followed by interment at the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations to the Freehold First Aid and Emergency Squad, 18 Spring Street, Freehold, NJ 07728 would be appreciated.
