Obituary of Lester E. Biddle
Lester E. Biddle, 76, of Englishtown died Saturday, December 4, 2010 at Applewood Estates Healthcare Center, Freehold Township. Mr. Biddle was born in Englishtown and was a lifelong resident.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
He was a truck driver for Ralph Clayton and Sons before his retirement. He was a member of Teamsters Local No. 469.
He was a former member and Ex-Chief of the Englishtown Fire Department; a member and Past Commander of American Legion Post No. 434, Englishtown, a former member of the Englishtown Borough Council where he served as Police Commissioner, and a former Captain of the Englishtown-Manalapan First Aid Squad.
He was predeceased by his sisters and brothers, Irma Ravally, Alma Vokers, Evelyn Vanuscheck and Francis, Joseph, and Henry Biddle.
Surviving are four sisters, Pearl Etsch, Florida, Edith Manfrede, Palmdale, California, Florence Canzone, Pasadena, California and Mildred Zicha, Monroe Township; a sister-in-law, Rose Biddle; several nieces and nephews; and special close friends.
Visiting hours will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Monday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial donations to American Legion Post No. 434 or Englishtown-Manalapan First Aid Squad would be appreciated.
