Obituary of Eltrude L Vestal-Murrill

Eltrude L. Vestal-Murrill, affectionately known as Trudy, was born on December 25, 1932 in Brooklyn, NY. She was the fifth child of seven born to Everett Alexander Vestal of Brooklyn, NY and Emma Marie Leppig-Vestal of Ruchsen, Germany. Trudy, attended the Girl’s High School in Brooklyn graduating in 1950. On September 2, 1956, she married the love of her life, Ralph Murrill, and they made their home in East Orange, NJ. She gave birth to her beloved daughter, Jill Susan Murrill-Quiles, on July 23, 1963. In September 1968, Trudy and her family moved to a beautiful home in Morganville, NJ, and she lived there for the rest of her days. Upon relocating to NJ, Trudy was employed at the Veterans Administration Hospital in East Orange. She was later employed at Earl Naval Base in NJ while attending school at Kean College part-time, majoring in Social Work. After graduating, she worked as a social worker at her favorite position at Marlboro State Hospital until she earned her Master’s degree (M.S.W.) from Rutgers University in New Brunswick. Trudy then transitioned to her position as a Hospital Administrator working for the state of NJ and worked there until her retirement in 1994. Trudy was pre-deceased by all of her siblings: Everett, Eleanor, DeWitt, Marlene, Alvin, and Paul. She leaves to cherish her memory her two granddaughters-Elaina Michelle Quiles (21), Lisette Marie Quiles (19); 6 nieces-Cynthia Latimore, Linda Cole, Marlene Cole-Bomar, Kimberly Cole, Jackie Cole, Sharon Vestal, and three nephews-Alexander Cole, Jody Vestal, and Alvin Vestal; a Daughter-in-Law, Regina Murrill, and a host of other family members and friends. Trudy loved gardening and enjoyed going to the Philadelphia Garden Show. She was an adventurous person who loved traveling, scuba diving, skiing, and hiking. She was strong and independent, and she was a non-judgmental person who lived her life with no regrets. Trudy ascribed to the philosophy “Never envy others, for you don’t know their struggle. Be thankful for what you have and who you are.” She will be deeply missed and affectionately remembered by all of her family and friends.
