Obituary of Helen Stillman List

Helen Stillman List, 99, of Freehold Township, died Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Newark, she lived in Little Silver prior to moving to Freehold Township 18 years ago. Mrs. List was an organist, choir director, and pianist for Christ Church, Middletown, Montclair United Methodist Church, Middletown Methodist Church, and the First Baptist Church of Summit. She was a member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, Freehold. She was a Fellow of the American Guild of Organists; past president of the Suburban Music Club, formerly known as the Music Study Club of Newark and the Oranges; member of the Monmouth Chapter, American Guild of Organists, where she served as Dean; a member of the Deer Lake Club, Boonton; a member and pianist of the Halitzer Trio; and a member and pianist of the Landes-List Duo. She was predeceased by her husband, Frederick E. List; and her daughter, Margaret Johannen. Surviving are a son, William H.S. List, Madison; a daughter, Mary Elizabeth Baird, Tewksbury Township; a sister, Jean Comstock, Chevy Chase, Maryland; six grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 22, 2011 at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 33 Throckmorton Street, Freehold at 2:00 p.m. A reception will follow at Applewood Estates, Freehold in Conference Rooms A and B at 3:30 p.m..
