Obituary of Leroy Ethridge

Leroy Ethridge Jr., 68, of Freehold died Thursday, January 27, 2011 at Chestnut Hill Hospital, Philadelphia, PA. H e was born in Wayne County, North Carolina and was a resident of Freehold since the age of 17. He was a Machinist for Washington Forge, Englishtown. He is predeceased by his parents, Leroy Sr. and Mary Crawford Ethridge; his wife Helen Loraine Blackwell Ethridge; a daughter Adalia Marie Ethridge and a brother Willie Gray Ethridge. Surviving are seven sons, Anthony L. Blackwell, Lakewood, Robert A. Ethridge, Asbury Park, Leroy Ethridge III, Statesboro, NC, Douglas E. Ethridge, Keansburg, Michael W. Ethridge, Norfolk, VA, Darrell L. Ethridge, Middletown, NY and Anthony Billingsley, NJ, a daughter Denise McBride, Asbury Park; four brothers, David L. Ethridge, Rocky Mount, NC, Isaac Ethridge, Rocky Mount, NC, Jacob Ethridge, Sharpsburg, NC and Vance Earl Ethridge, Rocky Mount, NC; three sisters, Clara M. Shuler, Freehold, Pennie Whitaker, Sharpsburg, NC and Mary E. Atkinson, Wilson, NC, a very close cousin Harry Lee Ellis, PA; three step-brothers and one step-sister of the Thomas family, NC, and step-brothers and step-sisters of the Barnes family, NC. He is also survived by many Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren and Great Great Grandchildren as well as many loving Aunts, Uncles, Nieces and Nephews. A viewing will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Thursday from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a service taking place at 8:00 p.m. Interment will take place at Rest Haven Cemetery, North Carolina.
