Obituary of Dorothy M. Fichtner
Dorothy M. Fichtner, 88, of Freehold Township died Wednesday, February 2, 2011 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Mrs. Fichtner was born in Bronx, N.Y., lived most of her life in Boonton, and had resided in Durham, N.C. before moving to Applewood Estates in Freehold Township three years ago.
Mrs. Fichtner was a former member of the Boonton Presbyterian Church, Boonton and Triangle Presbyterian Church, Durham, N.C.
She was a member of the bridge group, and craft and sewing group at Applewood Estates where she was loved by her many friends. She also contributed articles to the Applewood newsletter. While she lived in Durham she was active in DILR at Duke University.
She was the widow of Roger Salmon Fichtner who passed away in 2007.
Surviving are a son, Roger Salmon Fichtner, Jr. and his wife Ina, Wake Forest, N.C.; two daughters, Nanse Kiel and her husband Donald, Morristown, and Amy Jones, Stanhope; a brother, Stanley Meyer, Truckee, California; and five grandchildren, Brian and David Fichtner, Julia and Mollie Kiel, and Cody Strauss.
Visiting will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Saturday, February 12, 2011 from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. William Frederickson, Pastor of the First Baptist Church, Freehold officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial donations to a favorite charity of your choice would be appreciated.
