Obituary of Helen J. Budris
Helen Budris died peacefully Friday, January 28, 2011 from emphysema at CentraState Medical Center under the care of Hospice. She was born on December 30, 1929 in New York City to the late Eugene and Olga Senete. Married at 17 years of age, she resided in Freehold for 32 years. She was employed by Roux Hair Color Company as a licensed beautician and sales representative.
In 1971, she married Stanley Budris. Both were active in the VFW Post 4374 where she served as president of the auxiliary. In 1980, they moved to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida where she lived for 20 years. The late Mr. Budris was a 747 pilot for TWA. Helen traveled extensively with her husband and enjoyed this part of her life. They were active members of the Orchid Society and took great pride in cultivating their fruit trees and flower gardens.
She returned to Freehold in the year 2000 to be closer to her family. She became very active in a number of organizations including the Molly Pitcher Society, the Red Hat Society, as well as, the Freehold Township Senior Center. Through these organizations she made a number of wonderful friends who meant the world to her. She was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. She was predeceased by her brother, Walter Senete and her son-in-law Wayne Skidmore.
She is survived by her son and his wife, Michael and Geraldine Phillips of Freehold, and a daughter Eileen Skidmore of Columbia, Maryland. Additionally, her grandchildren include: Meghan Phillips, West Virginia University, Michael Phillips Jr. and his wife Christina of Hoboken, Christopher Phillips and his wife Elizabeth of White Plains, NY, Daniel Skidmore of Columbia, MD, Laura Skidmore Townsel and her husband Kristofer of San Diego, California. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral arrangements are being made through Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street in Freehold. Following her wishes, she was immediately cremated. A Funeral Liturgy will be held Saturday, February 19, 2011 at 10 a.m. at St. Rosa of Lima Church, 16McLean Street in Freehold. Interment will follow at the mausoleum at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery. Mrs. Budris supported numerous charities. The family asks that in lieu of flowers a donation be made in her name to a charity of your choice.
