Obituary of Francis Crerand
Francis “Bud” Crerand, 85, of Port Saint Lucie, Florida and formerly of Englishtown, NJ, Queens Village, NY and Trenton, NJ passed quietly from this world at Treasure Coast Hospice House on February 15, 2011. He was the beloved husband of the late Dorothy Crerand and was a devoted father to his surviving sons and daughters-in-law Robert and Rosemary of Port Saint Lucie, Florida and William and Sheri of Pennington, NJ. He was preceded in death by his son Richard “Rick” Crerand (Key West, FL). He had five wonderful grandchildren Christine (Steven Morrison, Woodbridge VA), Nicole (James Borg, Hazlet, NJ), Andrew, Daniel and Kaitlyn Crerand of Pennington, NJ and was the devoted great-grandfather of James Borg and Brady, Caelainn, McKenna and Teagan Morrison. Bud is also survived by his sister Kathleen Burns of Hamilton Square, NJ and he was predeceased by seven siblings: John, Jim, Joe, Donny, Walter (Lolly), Pete and Margaret. He was the favorite “Uncle Bud” to numerous nieces and nephews but was especially fond of his nephew Tim (his wife Donna and son Christopher of Lake Worth, FL) who was a huge presence in his life and remained continuously at his bedside.
Prior to retirement Bud was employed by the New York Shipping and International Longshoremen’s Association. He worked for the United States Lines on both Pier 59 in NY and Port Elizabeth in NJ. He was veteran of th US Navy and proudly served his country during World War II.
He will be missed by not only his immediate family but his extended family in Florida as well which includes his long time friends Linda, Nelson and Matthew Marques and all the staff and caretakers of Senior Solutions and most especially by his morning breakfast buddies, the waitresses and owners of Tina’s Café in Port Saint Lucie.
Farewells will be at Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold NJ on February 21, 2011 from 7-9 PM followed by a funeral Mass a St. Thomas More Roman Catholic Church, 186 Gordons Corner Road, Manalapan Township, NJ at 10 AM on February 22, 2011. He will be buried alongside his wife in St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold. A memorial service will be held in Florida in the near future.
