Obituary of Michael J. Yuhas

Michael J. Yuhas, 53, of Englishtown died Thursday, February 17, 2011 at home. He was born in Neptune Township and had resided in Englishtown most of his life. He was an operating engineer and a member of Local No. 825, Springfield. He was an outstanding baseball and softball player and had played in the Montreal Expos farm system. He attended Manalapan High School where he pitched a perfect game. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and true outdoorsman. Michael was a member of the Moose Lodge of Jackson Township. He was predeceased by his father, James Joseph Yuhas; a brother Richard Yuhas; and a sister, Patty Ann Yuhas. Surviving are his wife, Christina Kelly Yuhas; his mother, Cassy Yuhas; his brothers, Jim, David, Philip, Victor, Frederick, Vincent, and Anthony Yuhas; his sisters, Stella Earp, Barbara Stevens, Dorothy Lamberson, and Ann Yuhas; a sister-in-law Donna Carragher, a brother-in-law, Ron “Jumbo” Kelly, his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ronald and Joyce Kelly; and many nieces and nephews. He was a true friend to many. Visiting hours will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Tuesday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. followed by interment at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold. Memorial donations to the American Heart Association would be appreciated.
